This is a “jumbled” or “hackly” sheet
flow -- one of the fastest-moving flows on the seafloor. They form in
the same way as ropy sheet flows, except the interior of the
flow is moving so fast that it actually breaks up the ropes and folds
that form on the surface. When it finally stops moving, it forms
a jumbled pile of broken rocks.
