Bill Kamholtz, Melville’s Bosun, chips rust off the power control panel for the aft crane on RV Melville. Cranes are a critical piece of shipboard equipment needed to lift and move heavy pieces of equipment around the deck, and to load and unload the ship when it is in port. Notice that Bill is wearing safety glasses to protect his eyes as chips of rust can fly everywhere.
