LANDSAT image of Fernandina volcano. The long-skinny dark areas arranged radially around the center of the volcano are the youngest lava flows. The caldera, the 900 m deep pit at the center of the volcano, is almost 7 kilometers in diameter. The greenish band around the southern side of the caldera is vegetation. North is towards the top of the photo.
