We have a TV set in the Main Lab where we watch
the seafloor go by underneath us. Just imagine -- over a mile and
a half below the ship, we are towing Argo II, which is about as
long as a mid-sized car and weighs twice as much, only 10 meters
from the bumpy volcanic seafloor! We are seeing features and critters
on the ocean floor that are as small as a few inches. Captain Nemo
from Jules Verne’s “20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea”
would be jealous of the technology we are using to explore the seafloor!
