Mark Kurz and Kate Buckman process the rock
core samples. The wax, with the glass chips embedded in it, is melted
in a microwave in a cup of water. The water heats up, the wax melts
and the glass bits fall to the bottom of the cup. After several
heatings most of the wax is removed and the samples are ready to
be bagged.
