  Mark Kurz and Kate Buckman process the rock core samples. The wax, with the glass chips embedded in it, is melted in a microwave in a cup of water. The water heats up, the wax melts and the glass bits fall to the bottom of the cup. After several heatings most of the wax is removed and the samples are ready to be bagged.
