Mike Perfit looks at the glassy basalt samples collected last night and this morning. The rocks must be sorted, and similar types put together in groups for description and sampling. Mike has had lots of practice doing this with rocks from different areas of the mid-ocean ridge in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans over the last 25 years.
