A marine iguana on a rock at the water’s edge. Marine iguanas are only found only in the Galapagos Islands. They can stay submerged for over an hour, and eat mostly seaweed. They remove salt ingested while they eat seaweed using a special gland in their nostrils. Often their heads are coated with salt as a result of expelling the excess salt.
