As Alvin pilot Anthony Tarantino looks on, biologist Rhian Waller holds fronds of a live soft coral called Iridio gorgia, or spiral gorgonian. It was in its spiral form when Alvin retrieved it from Muir Seamount, but it broke on the way up.
