Stace Beaulieu identified this foraminiferan in the sample she looked at under the microscope. Foraminifera are protozoan that make calcareous shells. Shells of these animals accumulate in seafloor sediments, and scientists who study Earth’s climate use them to determine the environmental conditions at the time that the animals lived.
