Ron Comer (left) shows Randy Dickau how to put
on a survival suit, usually called a "Gumby" suit because you
look like the cartoon character when you put it on. Survival suits are
a very important part of the emergency equipment on board. Even though
the sea water here in the tropics is over 85°F, if you had to abandon
ship and go in the water, your body temperature would gradually get too cold
to survive. Survival suits insulate the body from cold seawater.
