Shipboard Technician Rob Palomares attaches one of five Miniature Autonomous Plume Recorders (MAPRs) to the wire, just above the depressor clump. The MAPRs will measure seawater properties and show us where hydrothermal vents may be located on the mid-ocean ridge crest.
