 The research vessel Atlantis is a big ship—especially to four-year-old Quinn Relyea of Bellevue, who visited the dock with his dad, Rob, and little brother Braden.

Clay Atkinson, 12, a 7th grade student in Maple Valley near Seattle, visited the submersible Alvin with his dad before the ship departed. While checking out the sub’s robotic arm, he said he dreams of becoming a ship captain because he “likes being out in the middle of nowhere.”
