He has worked extensively on studies of hydrothermal vents and related biological communities following underwater eruptions. He has also have been involved with improvements to the submersible Alvin and to remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and tethered vehicles operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
	Susan Humphris Senior Scientist Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Dr. Humphris’ research focuses on understanding hydrothermal processes at mid-ocean ridges. She has mapped and sampled various sites of hydrothermal activity using the submersible Alvin and several remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), including Jason. Her goal was to understand the relationship between hydrothermal processes and volcanic activity. She has also worked extensively on the chemical reactions that take place between circulating seawater and the oceanic crust in hydrothermal systems. These reactions are important to understanding how seawater gets transformed into the hot hydrothermal fluid.
	Danielle Fino Web Communications Manager Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Danielle has recently joined forces at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as Web Communications Manager. Prior to WHOI she spent several years as an interface/interactive designer at ABCNEWS.com. Her educational background includes a B.A. in geology from SUNY Buffalo, and a M.S. from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.
	E. Paul Oberlander Illustrator Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Paul’s background includes graphic design, art direction, exhibit building as well as illustration. An illustrator for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for the past 16 years, using both traditional and electronic media. Highlighted projects for WHOI include: Jason Project, Titanic, Oceanus Magazine, multiple web, text book and periodical illustrations, book and magazine covers, poster and logo design, WHOI Exhibit Center, design and building of exhibits, teaching classes (creating murals and painting techniques) to National Art Honor Society High School students.
